Press Release from Gilmer Fire Chief Tony Pritchett:
Gilmer County Fire apparatus and fire marshal personnel responded to an alleged camper fire inside coosawattee today July 22. Upon arrival fire marshal personnel were met by an individual whom was claiming someone was inside his home with a shot gun and the individual ran him out of his home and was still inside setting a fire. Sheriffs office personnel responded to the scene and established a perimeter. Cherokee County Swat was called to the scene by Gilmer S.O. to remove the alleged man from the home. After assessment of the scene by Cherokee Swat and clearing the residence it was discovered no one was inside the residence and no fire had been set.
