Legal Meeting, Yes – Illegal Meeting?

Last Thursday morning a meeting took place between owner of Reece Golf, Marc Reece, Gilmer County Commission Chairman J.C. Sanford, and Post 2 Commissioner Danny Hall. The Meeting took place at the Whitepath golf course snack shop. Post 1 Commissioner Randy Bell did not attend the meeting.
The commissioners held a special called meeting the same day and had a two hour executive session. After executive session ended, FYN was there and asked several questions about the earlier meeting that had taken place at Whitepath golf course.

Watch the full video of the meeting below and you decide if the AM meeting between Sanford and Hall was illegal. Was the information discussed at the Whitepath meeting used to make the decision to purchase equipment from Marc Reece? If so, is the County’s motion to purchase the equipment legal?

The real question is will District Attorney Alison Sosebee launch an investigation concerning a possible violation of the state’s sunshine law. Will State Attorney Sam Olens look into the possible violation of the sunshine law or will this go away as business as usual in county government.
