The past few weeks has been eventful to say the least. With flooding occurring in Gilmer and Pickens Counties, Help has been greatly appreciated. Fannin County’s Swift Water Rescue Team has been right in the middle of all the action. Fannin County has been to the aid both weeks. The county would send down their Swift Water Rescue Team. Last week on Aug. 1 Gilmer county would send for mutual aid. Fannin provided four men and a raft to help. The men would help out and follow orders of the Gilmer County Fire Department.
Then just a mere six days later Pickens and Gilmer both received severe flooding on Aug.7. Once again Fannin would send a team down. With waters receding, they would just be on standby for the morning.
Fannin EMA Director Robert Graham gave this statement,
“Over the past two weeks, we have deployed our SWRT during the flood events in Gilmer County. We are more than happy to provide assistance to our neighbors in their time of need.”
Both counties have a mutual agreement in place where they will help each other in times of emergencys.
