Corinne Brown VanLandingham : Obituary

Mrs. Corinne Brown VanLandingham age 103 of Ellijay died Tuesday September 3, 2013.She was born April 18, 1910 in Alberta, LA to the late Dan and Sarah Lula Brown. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ellijay. She was a graduate of Arkansas Teachers College and prior to her marriage worked in the Patent Office in Washington, D.C. She also worked for several years for the Mississippi State Legislature while they were in session. For twenty years she wrote a weekly column for the Island Packet of Hilton Head, SC where she lived for almost 40 years before moving to Ellijay in 1998. She also did volunteer work for several years for Faith Hope and Charity in Ellijay and for the Bargain Box in Hilton Head.

She is preceded in death by husband Zack, son William, and brother Dee Brown. She is survived by sons Donald VanLandingham and James VanLandingham, both of Ellijay, grandsons Don VanLandingham Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, Mark VanLandingham of New Orleans, LA, William VanLandingham of Syracuse, NY, Joseph VanLandingham of Denver, CO, Jeffery VanLandingham of Jacksonville, FL, John VanLandingham of Ellijay, granddaughters Victoria Stoddard of Bonny Lake, WA, Jennifer Gillenwater of Poga, TN, Teri VanLandingham of Beverly Hills, CA, niece Linda Brown of Charlotte, NC nephew Mitch Brown of Sacramento, CA, daughter-in-law Barbara Pettway of Atlanta, GA, ten great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 6th at the Bernhardt Funeral Home from 5pm until 8pm.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday September 7th at 11am from the Ellijay First Methodist Church with Rev. Allan Tarr officiating, Burial will be at Six Oaks Cemetery in Hilton Head, SC on Monday September 9th at 11am, next to her husband of 48 years.

Pallbearers will be David Walters, Paul Stoddard, Michael Gillenwater, Barry Lee, David Criner and Sam Pettway.
