Dear Gilmer County Voters,
I want to extend a sincere apology for my absence at the Debate held Oct 22nd. I want to express my gratitude to the Tea Party of Gilmer County, FetchYourNews.com, ETC, and all the people interested in learning more about the candidates seeking to become the next Commissioner to serve Gilmer County. I unfortunately have been suffering from the virus that has been circulating and although I attempted medications I was not improved enough to be physically able to attend. I was concerned that I would spread the illness to others if I came in contact with them.
I hope Gilmer County voters will accept my apology for not being able to participate and understand that I am open to anyone that would be interested in finding out who I am and what I would wish to accomplish should I be selected to serve. I can be reached at (706) 889-3926 or jendershot@gmail.com. I did watch the debate and I want to share some of my thoughts.
I am a business owner and a lawyer that enjoyed a very successful practice until we began our family and I devoted my time to raising my family. All of my children are in school now and I would love to use my abilities and education to improve Gilmer County.
Gilmer County is a beautiful area for tourists and a great place to live and raise your family. If elected I would actively work with our Chamber of Commerce to put together a “CHOOSE GILMER” plan and use my extensive network to reach out to industries that would be a good fit for our area & bring much needed jobs and revenue to this region. How many of you knew that a new call center moved to Union County?
Gilmer County has the infrastructure to support dozens of forward thinking and environmentally friendly industries that could revitalize our area. Gilmer has a great, ready for the future Telecommunications Company, modern natural gas infrastructure, an airport, and a major 4-lane for transportation in Hwy 515. We have everything needed except the plan and leadership to communicate this to businesses looking to expand. Instead of being sad that the county cannot give county workers a raise, why don’t we focus on the real issues of people that do not even have a job to ask for a raise!
I have the education and experience to renegotiate the County’s debt and alleviate part of the tax burden. I want positive thinking and action to bring positive changes. The economy has not been good, and some industries that supported so many here are a thing of the past. But it is time to move forward! I can help Gilmer County in so many ways. I am not only a hard worker that cares. I am bold and I do not want to spend energy complaining. I think we need to take action!
I will work together as your Commission Board along with the Chamber and network and bring in what our County needs. The conditions of growth are set by entrepreneurs start businesses and offer jobs because it is simple to locate here and costs are low. Jobs = REVENUE = less TAX BURDEN!!! Talking about what we need and doing something about it are two very different things. I know how to work with our leaders to make great things happen for Gilmer!
Think about 3 things-
● I have actually run a company. I understand managing a budget and I also know what challenges business owners face;
● I have a degree in law and understand contracts and negotiations with the experience in those areas;
● I have a family that lives and works in Gilmer County and I want the same thing other citizens want – a beautiful place to live & WORK!!!
I want to turn the page on feeling bad for what we don’t have and what’s been holding Gilmer back for so long – Let’s get going Gilmer!!! I want a package developed with our leaders, citizens, and our chamber to show companies why Gilmer’s Got IT!!! Vote for Jenifer Hendershot and I will not stop until I make it HAPPEN!!!
