Sam Snider Makes Case in Dawson County for Election

Sam Snider didn’t seem nervous to be introduced by his wife at the Dawson County Republican meeting last night, as some husbands might be. That’s probably because their 28-year marriage has been an example of dedication to each other, family and community.Snider is seeking the House of Representatives’ District 7 vote, to unseat the current Speaker of the House David Ralston.

As a high school wrestling coach, Snider has been grooming young men for responsible adulthood for years. He says that while the wrestling trophies they’ve won are important, most important is the life lessons he tries to teach them about being husbands and fathers.

“If we can build young men’s character then they’ll be successful way beyond high school,”

he said. Snider plans to use his ability to motivate people to change the face of Georgia politics.

“People need to be able to know you before they can ever like you. If they don’t like you they’re not going to trust you.”

He named Joe McCutchen (Ellijay talk show host and political newsletter pundit) as the person who asked him to run due to his ability to provide a solid foundation by which good, solid decisions may be made. He also attributed his decision to run to Noah Harris, a former student who served and lost his life in Afghanistan.

Snider said two other things that drive him are IDWIC (I Do What I Can) and to serve a purpose higher than himself. His main concerns are the leadership of this nation, the way things are handled in Atlanta and what legacy will be left for his grandchildren.

Stating he doesn’t dislike his opponent, he did say he has issues when

“we don’t vote pro-life, I have an issue when we don’t have a clean gun bill. I have an issue with a lot of things that have been passed through because it’s no longer about what we ran on and believed in, it’s now about how much funds can be provided for me.”

Touting himself as caring for his local community and not being a lifelong politician subject to lobbyists and special interests is what sets him apart from his opponent. To watch Snider’s speech, please see the following video:
