Orchard Lane Fire

In the early morning hours of Monday November 25 2013, Gilmer County Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Orchard Lane in the Yukon community. Fire crews arrived to find the house heavily involved with fire. The C-Shift fire crew led by Sgt. Eric Bradburn attempted an aggressive fire attack on the structure due to information they had received that a female victim could be inside. Fire conditions were very violent and advanced, thus preventing the firefighters from making their way inside the structure. We are saddened to report that the female Mary Nell Findley whom resided at the residence, did perish in the fire. The cause of the fire at this point is preliminarily being ruled as an electrical failure fire. Fire Marshal investigators should have a final cause determination in the next few days.
