Yesterday Superintendent Jason Kouns announced that Gilmer County Schools will be in session Thursday February 20th and Friday February 21st. That entire week was originally designated for mid-winter break, but now students will have Monday off for President’s day and Tuesday and Wednesday will be mid-winter break.
These changes to the calendar are due to “make-up” days for the inclement weather our region experienced last week.
Kouns stated,
“Although I am certainly not a meteorologist, I do believe that further snow events may arrive prior to Spring Break and I am trying to plan proactively to avoid the loss of other planned days/holidays.
I thank you for your patience and flexibility, and I will continue to do the best we can to keep the remaining school calendar as is.”
