Leon Watkins Announces Candidacy for Gilmer County Post 2 Commissioner

I, Leon Watkins am running for Gilmer County Post 2 Commissioner. Why I am running for this Post? It has been an honor to live in Gilmer County all of my life. I want to use my business and hands on experience to do the best job I can to help all of Gilmer County move forward. I want to keep our county a proud place to call home for many generations to come. Also try to attract new job growth in Gilmer County. Local jobs can in turn lead to local dollars spent in our own county and hopefully cut down on property taxes.
I have a 40 year record of proven business management experience ranging from balancing budgets, maintaining payrolls and supervising employees. I have a valuable background experience in road building and solid waste management from the business standpoint to the on hands field experience including heavy equipment.

I served a 5 year term with Gilmer County Water and Sewer Authority. I am a current co-owner of 2 landfills. I have been a Poultry Farmer for 18 years.

I have spent quite a lot of time at our State Capital working for meaningful bills and have been blessed to see some of them passed. So I know the process well and am willing to do all I can at the State level for our county.

I understand Gilmer County’s history, heritage and hopes for the future and I would love to serve you the people who call Gilmer County their home as well as mine.

I have a lot of experience I can offer if I am elected. I am no stranger to hard work. I believe in FAIR TREATMENT and just good common sense.

I would so appreciate your vote for Post 2 Commissioner on May 20th.
