Gilmer Chamber to Host Candidates Forum on April 22

On Tuesday, April 22, the Gilmer Chamber will host a Candidates Forum where a variety of political candidates running for office in 2014 will be invited to participate and clarify their platforms.

“We are expecting an excellent turn-out and a lively exchange of ideas,”

says Jim Fox, Chamber Chairman of the Board.

The Candidates Forum will be held on April 22 at the Gilmer County Courthouse in the Jury Assembly Room, and will start at 6:30PM. Voters and interested parties are invited to submit questions for the various candidates in writing no later than Wednesday, April 16. Questions may be faxed to 706.635.7410, sent via email to [email protected] (Subject line: Candidate question), mailed to Gilmer Chamber, PO Box 505, Ellijay, GA 30540 or dropped off in person at the Gilmer Chamber, 696 First Ave, East Ellijay, GA 30540.
The following candidates have been invited to participate:

House of Representatives: David Ralston and Sam Snider

Commission Chair: Danny Hall, Charlie Paris, JC Sanford, and Mark Simmons;

Commission Post 2: Travis Crouch, Mitchell Morgan, Joe Waldrop, Leon Watkins

Board of Education – Post 4: Michael Bramlett and Paul Deese.

Each candidate will be asked to make a 2-minute opening statement, respond to predetermined questions chosen from questions submitted prior to the Candidates Forum, and make a 1-minute closing statement. All questions will be issue-oriented and relevant to the Gilmer County business community. There will be an
opportunity for the public to meet the participants after the event. The Gilmer Chamber is a 500 member organization serving the North Georgia communities of Ellijay and East Ellijay. The Chamber operates two welcome centers, serves as the destination marketing agency for the county, and provides networking opportunities and business resources for its members.
