Mr. David Osco Parks, age 83 of Ellijay, Georgia died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the North Georgia Medical Center in Ellijay, Georgia.Born December 5, 1930 in Ellijay, Georgia, he was the son of the late Jim Parks and the late Hattie Fain Parks. He was a graduate of Gilmer High School and retired with Robert Shaw. Mr. Parks was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a volunteer fireman with the Gilmer County Fire Department.. Preceded in death by his son, Tommy Parks, sisters, Jessie Lee Knight, Helen Evans, Kathleen Ledford, Minnie Bell Bowen, brothers, James Parks and Paul Parks.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Charlia Mae Buckner Parks of Ellijay, GA, daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Parks of Ellijay, GA and Janice and Bill Henry of Valdosta, GA, granddaughter, Jessica Henry of Valdosta, GA, sister, Ruthie Silvers of Ellijay, GA. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday May 21st, 2014 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Emmett officiating. Music and Singing will be by Irene Wofford. A military graveside service will follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Bill Henry, Donald Parks, Randy Parks and Gene Davis serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at theLogan Funeral Home.
