2014 Primary Runoff Election Information, Early Voting Starts June 30th

DATE OF PRIMARY RUNOFF ELECTION is TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2014
ADVANCE IN-PERSON VOTING: MONDAY, JUNE 30, 2014 – FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2014 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (WEEKDAYS ONLY) (CLOSED ON FRIDAY, JULY 4, 2014). There will be no Saturday advance voting for the primary runoff election.Voters may begin to request absentee ballots by mail for the primary runoff election by completing an application for official absentee ballot. Applications are online at sos.ga.gov. Voters may also request an application by calling (706) 635-4617, faxing (706) 635-4647, or emailing registrar@ellijay.com, or mailing Gilmer County Voter Registrar, 1 Broad St., Suite 107, Ellijay, GA 30540. Last day to request an application for absentee ballot by mail is Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Last day for the voter registrar to mail an absentee ballot is Friday, July 18, 2014.

The registrar will begin mailing absentee ballots by June 7, 2014. All absentee ballots by mail must be returned to the voter registration office by mail or to the voter registration office in person by the voter (or a voter’s family member if the voter is disabled) no later than 7:00 pm election day, July 22, 2014.

Voters who requested absentee ballots by mail during the 2014 primary election will have to make a new application for absentee ballot by mail for the primary runoff election unless they marked elderly, disabled, or one of the UOCAVA exceptions on their 2014 primary election application for absentee ballot.

Persons who did not vote in the primary are eligible to vote in the primary runoff.

Persons who voted in the primary must vote for the same party in the primary runoff as the one they selected in the primary.

Sample ballots will be available in the office of the voter registrar about June 7, 2014. Sample ballots will also available online at sos.ga.gov at about the same time.
