The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats softball team traveled to Lanier Point Park to partake in some season beginning games. The Lady “Cats” won one and half games, getting a shut-out victory over Fannin, and a four run lead over Chestatee before a the game was called due to rain. The lone Lady “Cats” loss came at the hands of Duluth.The Lady “Cats” started off cold, managing only two runs and a plethora of errors in the first game versus Duluth, delayed a day due to rain. Duluth took the game 6-2.
A reversal of fortune happened in the second game as Gilmer shut out Fannin en route to a 6-0 victory. The Lady “Cats” scored two runs each in the first, third and fourth innings, while playing shut out defense for the victory.
The Lady “Cats” last saw Chestatee, and built up a 4-0 lead before the rain out.
