Lisa Luanne Denson West was born April 25, 1958, to the late Robert Alton and Nancy Mixon Denson, at Parkview Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.She attended Fairview Elementary School and R. M. Wilson, Jr. High School, graduating from Rocky Mount Senior High School with the Class of ’76. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rocky Mount.
Luanne attended Peace College and East Carolina University before receiving a B.A. degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College. During her life, she lived in Rocky Mount, Raleigh, Greenville, New Bern, Goldsboro, and Hatteras, NC. Prior to the birth of her son, she worked as a legal assistant, a sales representative, and a college recruiter. She also substituted and taught school.
Recently, she moved to the beautiful mountains of northern Georgia, where she passed away on September 17th. She is survived by her husband, Tommy West, Jr. of Ellijay, GA; one son, Robert Hayward “Ward” Cameron of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one sister and brother-in-law, Dr. & Mrs. Ken (Karen) Miller, Jr. of Rocky Mount and Hatteras; nieces and nephews, Mr. & Mrs. Tommy (Kate) Honey of Rocky Mount, Drs. Ken & Elizabeth Miller, III of Tarboro, NC; and Kittie Denson Miller of Raleigh, NC; three aunts and one uncle, Mrs. W. A. (Betty) Denson, Mrs. Elwood (Georgia) Mixon of Rocky Mount, and Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy (Joan) Ward of the Battleboro Community; two grandnieces, two grandnephews, numerous cousins and devoted lifelong friends.
Luanne expressed the desire to have her ashes spread on the Atlantic Ocean, and the family will comply with her wishes in a private ceremony at a later date.
