Mr. Clarence Hobert “Bud” Reece, age 87 of Ellijay, Georgia passed from this life on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton, Georgia. A member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Ellijay, he was born September 12, 1927 in Ellijay, Georgia. “Bud” was self employed at Reece Sales Thrift Store. He was a retiree of the United States Air Force where he served his country honorably during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He is preceded in death by sisters Carrie Young, Louise Brittingham, and brother Brad Reece.
Survivors include wife of 63 years Barbara Milton Reece; sons and daughters in law Buddy & Sylvia Reece of Powder Springs, GA., Phillip Reece of Chatsworth, GA and Gregory Milton Reece of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren Laura R. Youngblood, Jamie Priest, Marsha Wadsworth,Jimmy Ruffner, Denice Brook, Richie and Ryan Reece; seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; sister and brothers Mae Gwen Epperson of Dalton, GA., Melvin Reece, Ronnie, Vernon “Boss” and Larry Reece.
A Funeral service was held at 3:00 PM on Sunday at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Bradley officiating. Military graveside service will follow in the Logan Home Pavilion with the North GA Honor Guard performing military rites. Interment will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richie Reece, Ryan Reece, Jimmy Ruffner, Gary Priest, William Reece, Jeremy Goodwin, Daniel Epperson, Joel Epperson, Hugh Young and Ted Young.
The family received friends from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Logan Funeral Home.
