Mrs. Helen Wheeler Abernathy age 72 of Old South Dr Ellijay died Friday September 26, 2014.
Mrs. Abernathy was born May 13, 1942 in Pickens County the daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie Mae Waters Wheeler. She worked as a caregiver and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Joey Abernathy.

Survivors include: Companion; Charles Ray, Children: Mitchell Stanfield, Bryan and Abby McCollum, Stacey and Ronnie Davis, Kelly and Alan Holt, Diane Ray all of Ellijay, Stephanie and Enrique Pimental, Phoenix, AZ, Carol Crutzer, Dawsonville, Rhonda and Mike Chastain, Jasper, 22 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren, Sister: Gladys Banks, Ellijay, Brother and sister-in-law: Junior and Addie Wheeler, Ellijay several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday September 29, 2014 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Brondy Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Flat Branch Church cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Saturday from 5 until 9pm and all day Sunday until 9pm at the funeral home.
