2014 Apple Festival Parade Fun For All Ages

The 2014 Apple Festival Parade was held in downtown Ellijay on Saturday, October 18th. It was a beautiful day for the parade and a large crowd of spectators gathered around the square to view it. It was a wonderful parade with many participants including local businesses, youth groups, many Shriner units, lots of floats and local dignitaries. The 2014 parade grand marshal was Deany Brady, author of “An Appalachian Childhood”, who grew up in Gilmer County and currently resides in Northern California. Congratulations to the winner of the Georgia Apple Festival parade best entry goes to North Georgia Christian Academy.

The crowds also enjoyed “Apple Arts” on the square, with many different crafts and food booths. The weather was perfect for the second week of the Apple Festival. FYN will update the festival’s second weekend’s attendance once it is available from the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce.
