FREE John McCutcheon Concert

FREE John McCutcheon Concert, January 31 at 7 p.m. at the Gilmer High School Auditorium.Johnny Cash called him the “most impressive instrumentalist” he’d ever heard. Indeed, he plays myriad instruments—from the banjo to the octave mandolin to the nyckelharpa—but he is so much more. John McCutcheon is at once storyteller and musician, blending the two seamlessly to edify and entertain on topics ranging from the armistice of 1914 to poetry about doughnuts (“Ode to a Krispy Kreme”). And while he is an entity unto himself, his collaborative partners include an impressive string of knowns from all walks, from New York Times bestselling novelist Barbara Kingsolver to the late, great Pete Seeger.  Five-time Grammy nominee, master of the hammered dulcimer, headliner at festivals across the USA, author, teacher…you won’t want to miss this performance by Craddock Center friend John McCutcheon.

The Craddock Center is a nonprofit organization serving primarily children through Head Start and preschool enrichment programming across a tri-state region in Southern Appalachia. Songs & Stories, the Center’s annual cultural event, is held the last Saturday of every January. Like all Craddock Center programming, it is completely free to the public and all are invited. For more please visit craddockcenter.org.

Songs & Stories 2015 will be held at the Gilmer High School Auditorium on Saturday, January 31st at 7 p.m. Bring a friend!
