The Gilmer High School wrestling team recently competed at the Burnt Mountain Classic, winning the tournament with 217 team points. Matthew Waddell, who placed first at 170, was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Heavyweights.The Bobcats produced 11 place winners, with seven of the place winners making the finals and five of the finalists taking home first place medals. Trevor Preece (113), Alberto Perez (126), Lucas Patterson (132), Waddell, and Levi Seabolt (Heavyweight) all placed first in their respective weight classes.
Enrique Jacinto and Jake Parker both placed second at 160 and 195 respectively. Domingo Reynoso (106) and Luis Estaban (220) both placed third and Keegan Sharpe placed fourth at 138.
