The Gilmer High School Bobcats wrestling team won its 11th straight Area Traditional Tournament, winning at Ridgeland High School with 272 points. The Bobcats had 12 wrestlers make the finals, and all 14 wrestlers qualify for the Sectionals Tournament. Northwest Whitfield was second with 225 points and Heritage was third with 147.Trevor Preece (113), Alberto Perez (126), Jamie Lopez (152), Matthew Waddell (170), and Levi Seabolt (Hvy) all finished with first place finishes.
Domingo Reynoso (106), Marcelino Lopez (120), Lucas Patterson (132), Will Gudger (145), Enrique Jacinto (160) Nick Windsor (182), and Luis Estaban (220) all placed second.
Keegan Sharpe and Jake Parker both placed third at 138 and 195 respectively. The top four place winners from each weight class qualify for the Sectionals Tournament.
Afterward head coach, Sam Snider, spoke about the success and preparation for a potential 15th State Championship.
