Bobcats Bounce Back with Big Win Vs SEW

The Gilmer High School Bobcats baseball team, bounced back from a 10-0 loss at six time State Champion, Cartersville, with a 6-1 win over Southeast Whitfield.The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead with two runs scored in the bottom of the first inning. McKinley Chadwick scored Garrett Rigdon on two an RBI sac ground out.

Noah Wilson reached second on an error at first allowing Drew Healen to score a second run that gave Gilmer a 2-0 lead going into the top of the second.

The Raiders cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the third, with an RBI single; however, Dylan Hatcher, pushed the lead back up to two when he scored from second on an error while stealing third.

A bases loaded RBI Sac Fly from Chad Watkins in the bottom of the fourth pushed the Bobcats lead to 4-1.

Dylan Hatcher’s bases loaded RBI single two batters later, scored Dalton Stephens giving Gilmer a 5-1 lead going into the fifth inning.

The last score of the night came when Watkins scored in the bottom of the sixth despite being caught in a run down, when the umpire ruled that the Raiders obstructed the plate.

Gilmer held on for the 6-1 victory. Bobcats’ pitcher, Garrett Rigdon, pitched all seven innings and finished with six strike outs.
