Mrs. Barbara Ann Penland Milton, age 88, of Ellijay, passed away on Friday April 3, 2015 at her residence following a long illness. Barbara Ann was born in the big white house at 44 River St in Ellijay on October 7, 1926 to the late Sam O. Penland, Sr. and Claudia Ivie Penland. She was preceded in death by her husband, P. Foster (Molly) Milton; her sisters, Mary Ruth Teem and Hulda Williams; her brothers, Jack Penland, S.O. Penland, Jr., and Thomas Penland; and step-son, Don Milton.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roswell; was employed at Roswell Bank for many years and at Blue Ridge Carpet in customer service from 1972 until 1997. Barbara Ann was a graduate of Ellijay High School class of 1943 and attended the University of Georgia.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Claudia and Steve Simpson of Oakwood and Dixie and Billy Piper, Ellijay: stepsons, Bill Milton and wife Martha of Powder Springs, and Bob Milton of Marietta; granddaughter, Rachel Reed and husband Jeff; grandsons, Benjamin Charles and wife Mandi; Nolan Crump and Nathan Crump; great-grandchildren, Charlie Reed, Emma and Will Charles; sisters-in-law Yvonne Penland, Eunice Penland and Cleo Milton; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 11, 2015 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Edmund Miller and Rev. Jerry Banks officiating. Music will be by Janice Burgess.

The family will receive friends Saturday April 11, 2015 from 1:00pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
