Daily Prayer: 04/14

I John 4: “God is Love.”
O God of love, quicken our indifferent spirits so that we shall feel the impulse of your divine love. Help us to realize that although we speak with the tongues of men and angels and have not love we are become as sounding brass. And though we have the gift of prophesy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge; and have all faith so that we remove mountains and have not love, we are nothing. And though we bestow all our goods to feed the poor and though we give our bodies to be burned and have not love, it profiteth us nothing.

Grant us love so that we may be kind and not envious and not puffed up. Help us not to behave unseemly, to seek not our own, to be not easily provoked, to think no evil.

May we rejoice not in iniquity but in truth. Give us strength to endure all things and to abide in faith, hope and in your love displayed so divinely in Jesus Christ.
