The Gilmer High School Bobcats baseball team hosted the Pickens Dragons, falling 11-0 despite five strike outs from starting pitcher Mayson Carver.Gilmer got down early, as Pickens picked up five runs in the first inning, including a three run home run. Despite Garrett Rigdon leading off with a single, Dylan Hatcher following with a bunt, and McKinley Chadwick following Hatcher with a bunt, the Bobcat failed to score. Gilmer stranded all three men on base, after a double play preceded a strike out, closing the inning, with the home team down 5-0.
Neither team scored until the top of the fourth saw the Dragon increase its hot streak, as Pickens scored six more runs in the inning to push Pickens’ lead to 11-0. The bottom of the fourth saw only Noah Ralston reach first, as a ground out and two strike outs, ended the game with Pickens taking the “mercy rule” 11-0 victory.
