Taste of Ellijay

Gilmer County’s Annual Taste of Ellijay offered food from around the city.Located just off of the downtown square, Restaurants all over the city brought out their best for the festival in spite of threatening thunderclouds overhead on May 21. However, the blessing of the cool breezy air only added to people’s day as the rain held off for all in attendance.

Walking down the street, you could smell ribs and wings in one section, but walk 5 more feet and potato salad and boiled peanuts floated on the air. The aromas mixing into the street were enough to make any attendee go back for a second sheet of tickets to try “just one more thing.”

And there was no shortage of things to try as local vineyards offered wine tastings while Shane’s offered barbecue. Hot wings and mushrooms from the River Street Tavern and sandwiches and tea from Cantaberry’s were on the menu as well. A salivary treat was offered to everyone, even the four legged attendees.
