Bonds and Bids at BOE Meeting

At the June 11 meeting, the BOE approved several financial plans. A large majority of the meeting involved finances as the Board of Education approved not only the financial report, but also a non-binding Long Range Financial Plan, the FY 16 Tentative Budget, a Non-Binding 5-Year Facilities Plan, and a FY 16 Athletic, Extracurricular Activity, and Instructional Supplement Schedule. These plans and schedules can be found through my previous report on the Board’s Work Session.

Also approved was the bids on Maintenance-Transportation operations, this vote passed with 4 votes as Board Member Noreen Thomas recused herself from discussion and voting to avoid any question of impropriety. The council did reject the bids for automotive batteries and automotive filters due to lack of competitive pricing.

The 2015 Bond and Validation Resolution was approved as well. Though they have not officially signed any bond agreement, this has already drawn responses from the community including Joene DePlancke of the local TEA Party who spoke during public comments.
