The JDA (Joint Development Authority) met Wednesday night, June 24, to officially become a full entity. Not only did the Authority accept and affirm its seventh member, Penelope Marshall, they also officially elected their officers.

FYN would like to congratulate the following appointees: Travis Crouch as Chairman, Lex Rainey as Vice-Chairman, and Paige Green of the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce as Secretary-Treasurer.

The Authority also officially adopted its Bylaws, Operating budget, and Confidentiality Agreement for the Directors pending minor changes. After which the Directors progressed to discussion on the establishment of their Bank Account.

With the current budget and operations, the JDA felt their current need required a simple holding account. They then agreed to a random draw and elected an initial operating account with Park Sterling Bank only to last until December 31, 2016. This will allow the JDA to progress with their business to a point where they would want to look into other accounts and issues. They also suggested they would be considering a bid process at that point of account selection.

Along with the selection of an account, the JDA opted to require all checks of $500 and over to require two signatures among the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer, or Executive Director.

The last position, Executive Director, is a position not yet filled. The final item of the agenda, in fact, was the JDA’s acceptance of an agreement to work with Georgia Power and Elyse Davis, Community Development Manager of Northwest Region, in order to search for and select an Executive Director to operate under the Joint Development Authority.
