Democracy, The Road to Perdition

Opinion

Opinion by George McClellan:

The term “democracy” is so little understood by the general public because its proper usage has been hijacked, lied about and otherwise misused by our politicians, saints and villains alike. We have very few saints in the Republican party. Corruption has seen to that.

Democracy should be viewed as a method not an ideology much like terrorism is a method not an enemy. If democracy can be seen as a method then this collection of fifty Americas states represent fifty different methods of experimentation in the democratic politics, none of which, until Obama, has even considered the idea of imposing a supreme sovereign. America was born in the crucible of revolution specifically to be rid of a sovereign. We cannot go back there now.

Democracy, as Churchill once phrased it, was the worst form of governments but it was still better than anything else. By the Constitution, our forefathers gave us a set of rules to follow, not ignore like is presently being done, that offers all its citizens the self-evident right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It does not give government the responsibility to ensure that happiness. In fact it specifically says government shall make no laws respecting those self-evident (God given) rights. Reread the first amendment again. It doesn’t grant rights, it prohibits government from imposing on our rights. It tells government what it can’t do. That’s beautiful!

If we can accept that self-evident truth, then it is equally true that our current experiment in the miserable theories of liberal-progressive socialism are still manifest failures. That being so, we should, without further qualification, abandoned the experiment which is what this next election is all about. That’s the difference between socialism, as the Democrat Party wants to impose on us, and Representative republicanism the Conservative movement out here wants the GOP to return to. Don’t look like it’s going to happen, does it?

It is here that democracy is subverted. When voters, under the leadership of special interest groups (democrats) realized they could vote themselves stipends, emoluments, relief, subsidies and entitlements from the general fund, that our government started its collapse. We are in that stage of decline right now. The next stage is anarchy or total lack of lawful authority.

Anarchy, as we have witnessed on a small scale in Ferguson, Mo. and Baltimore, Md, are but just two examples of the coming chaos. If the disease spreads across America, because Republicans won’t fight it, then Obama will have his one big chance to exercise his right to restore order, from the barrel of a gun, as Mao, taught. When that occurs, then we will have turned full circle, back into a sovereign leadership again and, a bloody revolution.

There is nothing to stop it because we have been led to misdefine the term ‘democracy’ or understand how it really works. Conservatives cling to hope when bombasts like Donald Trump expresses what everybody knows. But, Hope is not a process. Conservatives have lost faith in the GOP to hope that it will restore a Constitutional America. It wins elections by voters who hope it will come to its senses but, apparently, the GOP is still afraid of its own shadow.

GOP moderates are democrats in disguise. Most couldn’t hold a good job except as professors in liberal colleges where workable political theories are trashed and substituted with trash. We had better be absolutely certain about who we pick as our next presidential candidate. It will be America’s final chance to avoid perdition.

Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em! (9 August 2015)
