Think coloring is just kid’s stuff? Think again! If you’re looking for stress relief, a boost to your creative juices or just a minute of downtime with friends, then you should join us Tuesdays in September from 2PM-4PM. Coloring sheets, pencils, crayons and markers are provided.  You supply a youthful and creative spirit.

Word 101

Learn the basics of Microsoft Word. We will introduce you to creating documents, adding content, saving the file and using templates. Registration and an active library card are required.

Lunch & Learn Knitting

Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit or crochet, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

2 Winters in a Tipi

Mark Warren, local author will speak about his book Two Winters in a Tipi. His book gives the history and use of the native structure, providing valuable advice, through Warren’s trial and error, about the confrontations of a tipi dweller. It shows you how you can go back to living off of the land for two days or two years. Books will be available for purchase and singing by the author. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

This week the Bookshelf is featuring a large selection of psychology, self-help, and inspirational books at Last Chance prices.  You’re bound to find something of interest on the cart outside the Bookshelf, and be sure to check more than once as we’ll be restocking it during the week.

Don’t forget to pick up a stash of magazines for road trips, a true bargain at $.25 each. Magazines are displayed on the rack outside the Bookshelf and in the non-fiction “back room” as well.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays.
