Why Not Jeb?

Opinion

Opinion by George McClellan:

Listening to talk radio today and reading a few articles on the Internet, one can only conclude that the Bush camp is, if not in near panic, are at least starting to worry a bit about the prospects of Jeb keeping the Republican Party in the Bush family. Damn that Donald Trump!

Jeb’s poll numbers are tanking. How could that be if he is the elites heir apparent to be crowned the next president of the US? Perhaps the question should be reframed: why are grass roots republicans liking the GOP less and less? Jeb’s not the reason. Jeb is the symptom of a tired and disgusted electorate who have seen GOP promises ignored, discarded or simply explained away as not workable after all the hard work done to get them elected. The burnish on the Bush name is tarnished and the Republican’s allowed the democrats to do that! That’s why not Jeb!

We are reminded every day, as dramatic news events crowd out the previous day’s dramatic news events, of any lack of GOP progress. Some stories simply won’t go away, like the former First Lady’s emails or, the daily butchery of infants in the stalag’s of Planned Parenthood (PP). Then comes a numbskull wanna be leader, like Kevin McCarthy, to sabotage the Benghazi hearings by inadvisedly running his mouth with his ill thought out comments. OMG!

Why is the GOP leadership afraid to defund PP? Is it really in fear of shutting down the government? Why doesn’t the GOP redefine that awful procedure using Obama’s words: “That’s not the kind of people we are!” Well, apparently it is and under Jeb’s leadership, people suspect it would continue. This government is corrupt. It needs to be shut down. Voters want to know when will the Congress start doing what they promised? People need to go to jail up there. One wonders if there may be too many possible Republicans in that count. Umm?

Conservative voters want to know why Obama’s claims of the danger of climate change has any resonance in the halls of Congress. Why does the GOP Congress permit that stupid theory to even see the light of reasoned discourse? Why is the dangerous and stupid deal Obama and the witless John Kerry, made with Iran, still lurking in the background? Does not our Senate, whom the voters delivered into GOP hands at the last election, have a responsibility to stop bad international treaties? Lest we forget, a Republican, the shameless Rep. Bob Corker, aided in that by agreeing to a framework that allow the Iranian deal to move forward even if the Senate votes “no”. Where is a waterboard when we need one?

The base want’s to know why, If GOP Congressional sub-committees are biting away at Obamacare, as they promised they would, then why don’t we hear about it? All we get are lies or silence even while Obamacare plans are collapsing in every state that enacted it. Jeb Bush, being pushed by the elites, simply reminds the voter base why the party desperately needs to change course and offer something different than the old unworkable past policies of compromise with the left. Trump promises to do just that! That’s why Jeb’s numbers are tanking.

Obama’s fiasco of foreign policy leadership cries out for criticism yet, no GOP’er (Trey Gowdy excepted) stands in the public pulpit to point out how this faker in the White House, and his cadre of commie advisers, are not challenged at every turn and put on the defensive for their perfidy. They should be made to defend themselves, every day like that soulless idiot who is the White House Communications Director does daily. All is slipping away and the GOP needs to attack, attack, attack. Remember freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go attack ‘em! (15 Oct 2015)
