Evelene G. Watkins: Obituary

Mrs. Evelene G. Watkins age 86 of Ellijay, GA passed away Friday October 23, 2015.

Mrs. Watkins was born March 23, 1929 in Gilmer County daughter of the late Ira and Honor Gentry. Evelene was a member of the moon circle at Ellijay First United Methodist Church. She worked for the Fabric Outlet Store on the Square in Ellijay for years and volunteered at Faith, Hope and Charity Recycle Store for 30 years. Also she would fix hair every Tuesday at Gilmer Nursing Home, and was very active in community and church affairs. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, cooking and keeping house. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Watkins Gentry, Kenneth Gentry and Watson Gentry; sister, Audrey Smith.

Survivors Include: her husband, Letch Watkins, of Ellijay, GA; Sister in-law and caregivers for several years, Sue and Paul Worley, of Ball ground, GA; sister in-law, Ada Sanford, of Ellijay, GA; nieces and spouses, Sheryl and Doug Howard, Hilda McClure, Karen and General Partian, all of Dalton, GA, Frances and Robert Sexton, of Panama City, FL; nephew, Butch Gentry, of Blue Ridge, GA; special friend, Alice Atkins.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday October 27th at 2pm from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Allan Tarr and Rev. Thom Shores officiating. Interment will follow in the Ellijay City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday October 26th from 2pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
