After the Memorial Day celebration the Jones family received several new names to add to well over 800 crosses to date in order to commemorate soldiers who have served in American Wars and lived in Gilmer County.
The Gilmer Chamber of Commerce sponsors this event, but the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary have taken on the task of having these signs created, cleaned, maintained, and displayed.
As previously reported in May, the crosses are now being placed with small memorial flags to further commemorate the dedication, sacrifice, and service of those remembered.
