This week’s theme is “Winter Wonderland” January’s story themes are all about the cold bite of winter. All ages welcome. Story time and Lapsit are excellent ways to strengthen your children’s literacy skills, and all stories are always followed by a simple craft you can complete with your child.

Lego Club
Saturday, January 9 @ 2:00 PM
The Lego Club has a different theme each month. Children can work alone or in teams to make their special creation, which will be displayed in the library until next month’s meeting. All ages, under 9 years of age with an adult please.

Adult Programs

Lunch & Learn Knitting
Wednesday, January 6 @ 12:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! Its OK if can’t come to all the meetings. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color. This is a “drop in when you can” event.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

The Bookshelf is starting off the New Year with a great special on cozy reads. The cart outside the Bookshelf is filled with books by well-loved authors including Joanne Fluke (Hannah Swensen mysteries) and Debbie Macomber, all at half our usual low prices.

Remember that the library welcomes donations of gently read books and magazines. Those that the library doesn’t need come to the Bookshelf, with all the proceeds benefiting the library. Don’t forget to visit the “back room” of the Bookshelf for newly stocked non-fiction and magazines.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays.
