Who Ruined Our Foreign Policy, and How?

Opinion

Opinion by George McClellan:

It was while listening to John (the Vietnam vet) Kerry, in his laughable role as SecState, bloviate on Fox News Sunday (1/17/15), his opinion about how splendidly he conducted negotiations with the Iranian’s to release American hostages, the US Sailors and why Obama’s (and his) Iranian nuclear deal makes the world safer, that it dawned on me to wonder why Kerry was even on that platform at all and professional State Department negotiators at the Diplomat level were not?

Unfortunately for Mr. Kerry is the fact that when it does all fall apart, and it will, he can’t blame anybody below him for screwing it up. Obama surely will, blame Kerry. Worse, what John Kerry doesn’t realize is that once, when he was still a US Senator, only a few people suspected, but didn’t really know, how ignorant he actually was. Now, the whole world knows.

The answer to my question lies in the jet airplane and crony political favoritism. First, the jet airplane allows the head of the State Dept. to personally and speedily, involve himself in foreign policy issues anywhere around the world he wishes to meddle. Kerry, like his predecessor before him, the aging and odious Hillary Clinton, are both incompetent and have left our foreign policy in tatters, our allies in shocked disbelief and our enemies in delighted wonderment.

Crony political favoritism lies in the ability of a new President to appoint his own choices as Ambassadors to foreign countries to represent America. It can be a sweet gig for most (not Libya though). They occupy Embassies and Consulates, have great parties around the hot tub or pool, free booze and associate with really swell people. For the crony big money donor, it takes a really big donation to secure one of these plush, long term vacation jobs.

While filthy rich, many of these “ambassadorial appointees” are totally unprepared for the duties required of an Ambassador. Therefore, the State Department must surround them with foreign policy diplomat professionals to keep the relations train from going off the rails and to guide them in the protocol requirements that big money brings but can not teach.

It is thought to fill the negotiations gap requires competent folks only from the highest level of the State Dept. (okay, I mean Clinton and Kerry). They were deemed safe enough to let loose on an unsuspecting world without revealing the administrations policy goal of a one world government and leaving a legacy of its Marxist commitment to fundamentally change America.

The end is coming and I picture in my minds eye, a Max Sennett comedy from the silent pictures era of a fleeing car, money and evidence being tossed to the wind, while being pursued by a rickety police van filled with uniformed clowns (the GOP) trying to catch ‘em!

For the past seven years our government has been lead by three former US Senators, Obama, Clinton and Kerry, all occupying the important leadership roles of government. I cannot imaging how America would have faired if our own Senate buffoon, John McCain, had won the presidency. It’s too frightening to contemplate.

Presently, the GOP has a spread of very competent candidates for 2016. Four of them are or have been Senators, three have no political past but great personal credentials, and four have been or are Governors with administrative experience. Drop outs are not included. By what criteria does the base seek a real conservative? That should be my next essay. In the meantime, remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em! (18 Jan 2015)
