Gilmer Swimming Concludes Season with State Appearance
GHS Swimming, Team FYN Sports February 9, 2016The Gilmer High School swim team finished its second season in existence by sending eight swimmers to the 2015-16 Georgia High School Association state meet, which was held last Friday and Saturday at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
The Lady Cats relay team of Leila Farist, Grace Pleasant, Kaylin Woodring and Rowe Fowler placed 44th in the state preliminaries in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with a time of one minute, 49 and 82-hundredths of a second (1:49.82). Later in the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team took 39th in the state preliminaries with a time of 4:07.80.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats took a 200-yard freestyle relay team of Evan Minter, Landon Bryan, David Brown and James Maxwell to the state meet. The team placed 54th in the state preliminaries with a time of 1:38.27.
Brown also competed in the 100-yard individual butterfly and freestyle events, turning in a 42nd-place state preliminary time of 52 and 91-hundretdths of a second (52.91) in the freestyle and a 47th-place state preliminary time of 56.47 in the butterfly.
