Mrs. Doris Maddox Ingram: Obituary

Graveside Services for Doris Ingram a long time resident of Decatur, GA will be held at 11:00am Saturday March 12th at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mt. GA with the Rev. Greg Smith officiating.

Mrs. Doris Maddox Ingram passed away March 7, 2016 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospice in Jasper, GA with her family helping to care for her.

Doris was born September 22, 1919 in Newton County, GA, daughter of Clifford and Myrtle Bartlett. Preceded in death by her first husband, George Hugh Maddox and later by George M. Ingram; infant daughter, Vivian Maddox; son, Don Maddox and seven sisters.

Doris graduated from Newton County High School and attended business school in Atlanta. Doris worked for Sears Roebuck for 33 years.  Mrs. Ingram volunteered in early retirement with DEAM and Meals on Wheels in Decatur. Gardening and cooking for her family was her favorite pass time.   Mrs. Ingram loved to travel, she made trips to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and her favorite was riding the back roads at Yellowstone and Tetons National Park.    Doris was a dedicated member of Scott Blvd. Baptist Church in Decatur, GA, where she taught Sunday School for many years and a participant in church sponsored benevolent ministers.

Survived by her children and spouses: Shirley (Bill) Alexander, Mineral Bluff, GA, Judy (Tommy) Snow, Mineral Bluff, GA; six loving grandchildren, Cindy Alexander Allen, Ellijay, GA, Karen Alexander Mullins, Winder, GA, William Alexander, Blue Ridge, GA, Cheryl Cothran Howington, Jefferson, GA, Mike Cothran, of Athens, GA and Richard Maddox, Atlanta, GA; twelve great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; sister, Katie D’Arrigo Breakfield, Tampa, FL; several nieces and nephews; step sons, George E. Ingram, Beaufort, SC and Charles Ingram, Moosic, PA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Ingram.
