Mrs. Edna Ruth James Norton, age 86 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, She was a member of Salem Baptist Church since 1947. Edna was born September 17th, 1929 in Ellijay, GA to her late parents Henry Thomas and Florida Angeline Ledford James. Mrs Norton was a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1947, and a retiree of Robert Shaw and Davenport Hosiery Mills. She is preceded in death by her husband Romas Norton.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Guy Cheek of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren Kristi Simpson and Nathan Cheek; great grandchildren Aiden Cheek, Maddison Cheek, and Benjamin Simpson; sister, Dorothy James Harper of Ellijay, GA.; brother Rev. H.T. James of Ellijay, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday from the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Kerr, Rev. Bryan Hensley and Rev. H.T. James officiating. Music and vocals will be by Bill McVey and the Salem Baptist Church Choir.. Graveside interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Logan Funeral Home.
