Galt Named as New GHS Football Coach
GHS Football, Team FYN Sports March 11, 2016For the second time in as many years, the Gilmer High School football program will have a new coach at its helm.
Jason Galt was approved as the 16th head coach in the history of the Bobcats program last night by the Gilmer County Board of Education. Galt beat out a field of 68 candidates that submitted interest in the position.
This will be the 10th season for Galt to head up a high school football program in the state of Georgia. With assistant coaching stints at Cedar Shoals High School, Clarke Central High School, Cass High School and Carrollton High School and two years as the Offensive Coordinator at Liberty High School under his belt, he spent the first six years of his head coaching career at Class 4-A (now 5-A) Dutchtown in Hampton, where he started in 2007.
During his time in Henry County, Galt amassed a record of 36-27 for the Bulldogs. His stint there included a 11-2 campaign in 2010, where he led Dutchtown to the quarterfinals of the AAAA Georgia High School Association playoffs.
Galt then coached the Class 6-A North Forsyth Raiders in Cumming from 2013-15. After taking his team to the first round of the state playoffs during his debut season (compiling a 7-4 record in the process), the Raiders went 3-17 over the course of the 2014 and 2015 seasons. His overall career coaching record is 46-48.
#TeamFYNSports will be conducting an introductory interview with Galt next week.
