Clear Creek Cruises Past Lumpkin

For the first time in school history, the Clear Creek Middle School track team hosted a track meet.

Normally, the team holds its meets at Pettit Field at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium, but due to renovation, the meet, last Tuesday against Lumpkin County Middle School, was held at Clear Creek.

The Bobcats picked up a 72-42 victory over the Indians, while the Lady Cats garnered a 77-49 win over the Lady Indians.

For the Bobcats, C.J. Streicher won the shot put competition, with a hurl of 35′ 2″. Streicher also won the triple jump event, with a length of 36′ 3″. He also took second in the boys 100-meter dash, with a time of 12.37.

Jacob Dobbs won both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs, with respective times of 5:50 and 12:12.50. Graham Quasebarth placed second in the 3,200, with a time of 13:14.10.

Hunter Waldrep won the long jump event, with a length of 14′ 10″. He also placed second in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 27.75.

Douglas Danforth placed third in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 29.97. Nate Mooney took third in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 18.10.

Nathan Jones won the boys 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 16.33. He also took third in the high jump, recording a height of 4′ 4″.

Connor Mohon took first place in the boys 800-meter run, with a time of 2:31.

Clear Creek took first place in the boys 4×100 relay, with the combination of Streicher, Waldrep, Danforth and Nathan Jones turning in a first-place time of 52.92. Streicher also joined Barker, Mooney and Mohon to win the boys 4×400 relay, with a time of 4:28.

Joseph Goodwin turned in a finish-line time of 6:02 in the 1,600-meter run, good for second place. He also took third in the discus throw, with a distance of 72′ 9″.

Nick Jones leaped 4′ 8″ in the high jump, for second place in that competition. Timothy Leonning took second place in the triple jump competition, recording a length of 31′ 9 1/2″.

The Lady Cats featured Rachel Bennett winning the girls 400-meter sprint, with a time of 1:15.14. She also placed second in the 200-meter, with a time of 33.10.

Dinah Bragg won the shot put, recording a distance of 29′ 3″. She also placed fourth in the discus throw, with a distance of 51′ 2″.

Heather Craig won the high jump event for the Lady Cats, reaching a height of four feet. She also took first place in the triple jump event, with a distance of 23′ 9″.

Jocelyn Birko won the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 20.78. She also placed second in the long jump, with a distance of 11 feet.

Tori Hughes won the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 16:23.60.

Jayd Hamby won the 200-meter dash, with a time of 32.07. placed third in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 15.11 seconds.

Marlee Chadwick took second place in the high jump event, with a height of 3′ 8″. Later, she placed third in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 22.46.

Ardyn Weaver won the girls 800-meter run with a time of 2:59, as well as the 1,600 with a time of 6:14. In the long jump event, she placed third with a leap of 10′ 11″.

Marisa Boland captured third place in the triple jump, with a leap of 22′ 9″.

In relay events, the team of Bennett, Chadwick, Hamby and Shyann Williams won the girls 4×100 with a time of 1:01.58. The team of Bennett, Byrd, Boland and Weaver won the girls 4×400 relay, with a time of 5:21.

Isabel Crosby claimed second place in the 1,600-meter run, with a time of 7:10. Vallery Wofford placed second in the triple jump, recording a length of 23′ 6 1/2″.

CCMS will travel to Bogart Friday, for its next meet.
