Gilmer Track Traverses Through Dalton Rotary

The Gilmer High School track team competed against 21 teams in the 2016 Dalton Rotary Invitational, which was held last Saturday at Dalton High School.

For the Lady Cats, Raven Sparks finished third in the discus throw, recording a distance of 103′ 2″. She also competed in the shot put competition, taking 10th place with a length of 31′ 4 1/4″.

Karla Cantrell turned in a fifth-place time of 50.15 in the 300-meter hurdles. She also placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 17.94. Cantrell also competed in the triple jump event, finishing 10th with a leap of 30′ 4″.

Olivia Thompson took 15th in the triple jump event, with a leap of 27′ 9 1/2″. She also took part in the 800-meter run, turning in a 17th-place time of 2:47.51.

Samantha Buntin placed 19th in the discus, with a distance of 70′ 10″. Later in the shot put event, she finished 34th with a distance of 21′ 11 1/4″.

Kelsi Cook finished 28th in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 31.72. She also competed in the 100-meter dash, turning in a 31st-place time of 15.30.

Raiven Pierce finished 20th in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:15.01. Also in the 100-meter dash, Pierce finished 33rd with a time of 16.09.

Carolina Teague placed 18th in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:08.81. Rowe Fowler took 20th place in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 58.31, while Aubrey Cagle placed 22nd in the long jump, with a leap of 13′ 6″.

Bobcat Kell Kiker took fourth place in the pole vault competition, reaching a height of 11′. He also finished seventh in the triple jump, with a leap of 38′ 7″ and 21st in the long jump, recording a length of 18′ 4 1/2″.

Carson Masenthin took eighth place in both the 110 and 300-meter hurdle events, with respective times of 17.46 and 44.63. In the high jump event, he finished 18th by reaching a height of 5′ 2″.

Alex Stolz placed eighth in the 1,600-meter run, with a time of 4:44.34. In the 800-meter run, he finished 18th with a time of 2:11.80.

Luke Stolz finished eighth in the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 10:23.01. Andrew Edmondson finished eighth in the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:07.39.

Carlos Cruz finished 14th in the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 10:54.53. In the 1,600-meter run, he finished 18th with a time of 5:02.15.

Greg Engler placed 12th in the discus throw, recording a length of 105′ 5″, while brother Kamron Engler finished 24th in the shot put, with a length of 34′ 3″.

Griffin Cagle took 20th place in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 24.57. Cagle also competed in the long jump event, turning in a 26th-place leap of 17′ 2 1/2″.

Joshua Teague took 24th place in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 49.25. Tyler Buntin placed 37th in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 13.06.

Joshua Holman placed 29th in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 12.22. JB Dove took 35th in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 28.63.

Austin Masenthin finished 29th in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 58.21. Bryson Masenthin placed 36th in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:00.59.

Joseph Ralston took 33rd place in the shot put, with a length of 30′ 9 1/2″. Also in the discus throw, he finished 34th with a length of 67′ 2″.
