The Clear Creek Middle School track team wrapped up the season, with an appearance at the state middle school track meet at Parkview High School in Lilburn last Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Cats finished 16th at the event, while the Bobcats did not record any team points. Still, the CCMS squad managed to break nine school records at the event.

For the girls, the relay team of Naomi Coombs, Ardyn Weaver, Ashley Spagnola and Isabel Crosby claimed All-State recognition in the 4×800 event, posting a time of 11 minutes, 20 and 96-hundredths of a second (11:20.96).

In individual events, Coombs broke the CCMS record in the 3,200-meter run, finishing with a 13th-place time of 12:02.44. She also broke the school record in the 800-meter run, turning in a 15th-place time of 2:32.47.

Weaver broke the school record in the 1,600-meter run, securing an 18th-place time of 5:41.29 in the process. She also turned in a finish-line time of 2:44.46 in the 800-meter run, good for 28th place.

Spagnola crossed the finish line with a 23rd-place time of 12:46.95 in the 3,200-meter run, while Crosby finished 53rd in the 1,600-meter run, posting a time of 6:29.82.

Dinah Bragg broke the school record in the shot put, by placing 11th with a distance of 32′ 6″. Later in the discus throw, she finished 26th with a time of 60′ 10″.

Jocelyn Birko turned in a time of 32.99 in the 200-meter dash and a finish of 21.11 in the 100-meter hurdles. Sadie Bryan finished with a time of 36.22 in the 200-meter dash, while Rachel Bennett crossed the finish line with a time of 1:12.22 in the 400-meter dash.

Marlee Chadwick finished the 300-meter hurdles with a 41st-place time of 59.25. She also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 20.33.

Jalynn Ledford turned in a 28th-place hurl of 59′ 6 1/2″ in the discus throw. Haley Wilson placed 51st in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.13, while Alyssa Goodwin completed the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:14.10.

Other relay events saw the Lady Cats combination of Weaver, Coombs, Bennett and Bailey Teague break the school record in the 4×800, by placing 22nd with a time of 4:33.67. The Lady Cats also placed 42nd in the 4×100 with a time of 1:03.39.

For the Bobcats, C.J. Streicher broke the CCMS record in the triple jump, as he placed ninth with a leap of 36′ 4″. He also finished the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.56.

Jakob Dobbs broke the Clear Creek record in the 3,200-meter run, by placing 28th with a time of 11:32.51.  He also broke the CCMS record in the 1,600-meter run, turning in a 34th-place time of 5:17.45.

Nate Mooney broke the school record in the 800-meter run, by claiming 29th place with a time of 2:21.17. Later in the 300-meter hurdles, he placed 34th with a time of 51.90.

Joseph Goodwin placed 30th in the discus throw, with a hurl of 87′ 10 1/2″. He also recorded a time of 1:04.05 in the 400-meter dash.

Nick Jones finished 24th in the high jump, turning in a leap of 4′ 8″. He also finished 66th in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:05.99.

Nathan Jones finished the 300-meter hurdles with a 27th-place time of 49.99. He finished 38th in the long jump with a leap of 15′ 8 1/2″, while in the 100-meter hurdles, he finished with a time of 18.28.

Joshua Barker finished 35th in the 1,600-meter run, with a time of 5:17.50, while Preston Masenthin claimed 54th in the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 12:38.19.

Connor Mohon took 35th place in the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:23.40. Douglas Danforth completed the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.91.

In relay action, the 4×800 Bobcats turned in a 13th-place time of 10:05.25. The 4×400 squad finished 27th with a time of 4:10.99, while the 4×100 Cats claimed 34th place with a time of 54.30.

Discussing the state appearance as a whole, head coach Tommy Jones said, “This was one of the best performances by our track team in the program’s history. On top of that, out of 42 performances, we set 35 Personal Records, not to mention eight new school records and that doesn’t include two other school records that were set earlier this season. I would like to thank my assistant coaches and all of the parents for making the weekend such a success for our team.”
