Gilmer CLC Hosts 10th Run for the Son 5K

Road Races, Team FYN Sports

The Gilmer Christian Learning Center held its 10th Annual Run for the Son 5K last Saturday, in downtown Ellijay.

Three hundred and forty-five combined runners participated in the one-mile fun run, the Tot Trot and the 5K itself.

Director of the Gilmer CLC Jennifer Colson expressed her gratitude for the turnout and the effort brought forth by the community to make the event a success.

“We want to thank everyone who came out to support our ministry and make this such a huge success,” Colson said. “We are so grateful to all of our sponsors.  It is because of their generous support that we are able to continue with our sixth grade program, grow our high school classes, and one day expand to Clear Creek Middle School. The Run for the Son is one of our largest fundraisers and a great opportunity to increase awareness about (the) CLC. At (the) CLC, we are able to teach public school student about the Bible during the school day. Through our race, we are able to bring the community together, fellowship with alumni, and help our ministry in many ways.”

An exact dollar amount on the funds raised from the race are unavailable at this time, but this story will be updated once the total is calculated.
