Dance Etc. Heading to Disney

A local dance company will be rubbing elbows with the likes of Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck next week.

Dance Etc. has qualified 23 of its students to perform in a Disney Paradise at Disney World next Saturday, June 18. The team, pictured below, will be performing a Disney-approved routine to the popular song “Happy.”

According to Dance Etc. instructor Amy Sims, the process to learn the routine has been meticulous and challenging.

“Disney Choreographers sent me a DVD walking through the choreography and I taught it to the students in February,” Sims explained. “We have practiced it weekly since then. In turn, we had to send Disney a video after learning the choreography for approval that my dancers knew the routine.”

Following the Disney Parade at 10 a.m. June 18, 20 of the dancers, in the photo below, will be branching off for another performance. The group will showcase their competition routine called “Wings” on the World Showcase Stage at the Epcot section of Disney at 4 p.m.

“I think this is going to be a wonderful and memorable experience for the dancers and parents,” Sims said. “The students have done some fundraising within the community. We live in a great little town where our local small businesses support these girls. We are ever so thankful for them. My staff and I are so excited for these students and cannot wait to see them ‘Dance at Disney.'”
