Mr. John Luke Whitaker: Obituary

Mr. John Luke Whitaker age 82 of Ellijay, GA passed away Saturday July 16, 2016.

Mr. Whitaker was born April 29, 1934 in Gilmer County to the late Theodore and Jessie Pless Whitaker. He was a member of the Baptist Faith, the Superintendent of the First Baptist Missionary Building and a US Air Force Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenda Starks Whitaker; sisters, Jesse Mae Payne, Jean Weeks, Dessie Worley, Florence Chapman, Betty Carroll; brothers, Frank Whitaker and Sammy Whitaker.

Survivors Include: son and daughter in-law, Bobby and Lorene Whitaker, of Ellijay, GA; daughter and son in-law, Donna and Pete Patterson, of Ellijay, GA; sisters, Irene Rogers, of Jonesboro, GA Becky Cowart, of Chatsworth, GA, Sue Long, of Chatsworth, GA and Wanda Patterson, of Blue Ridge, GA; 2 grandchildren, Stephen Patterson and Angie Jordon; 2 great grandchildren, Brittany Jordon and Brett Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday July 19th at 3pm from the Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Emuel Sanford officiating. Military Rites by the US Air Force.

The family will receive friends Monday July 18th from 5pm until 9pm at the funeral home.
