K9-Hella Helps Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office make two Drug Bust

On Sunday, February 12, 2017 at approximately 2318 hours, a BOLO was given from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office for a silver-in-color Kia SUV that was failing to maintain lane with varying speed that was traveling on Hwy. 515 North. Deputy Mitchell Massingill located the vehicle On Hwy. 515 and observed it failing to maintain its lane of travel. At approximately 2328 hours, Deputy Massingill conducted a traffic stop on the silver Kia Sorento. During the traffic stop, Deputy Massingill and Deputy Frank Parks noticed that both passengers were extremely nervous. Deputy Parks also noticed a faint odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver stated no when deputies asked if there were any drugs in the vehicle. Deputies then asked for consent to search the vehicle, and both occupants stated no. K9 Hella and Corporal Andy Page were then requested to assist in the investigation. Upon K9 Hella and Corporal Page’s arrival on scene, Corporal Page asked for consent to search and was denied. Corporal Page then had K9 Hella conduct an open-air search of the vehicle. During the search, K9 Hella alerted on the vehicle. K9 Hella then conducted a search of the inside of the vehicle where she alerted on a black book bag. Upon Corporal Page searching the black book bag, he located four (4) LSD stamps and approximately five (5) ounces of marijuana, some of which was marked as laced with LSD. Upon a further search of the vehicle, multiple pipes, bongs, and grinders were also located. The driver, Reid Alexander Williams, age 20 of Atlanta, claimed the drugs and was arrested.

On a separate incident on Monday, February 13, 2017, East Ellijay Police Officer Tony Pritchett conducted a traffic stop on a white Jeep Cherokee. Corporal Page and K9 Hella assisted Officer Pritchett. During the stop, Officer Gilmer Drug BustPritchett asked the driver for consent to search the vehicle and was denied consent. Corporal Page then had K9 Hella conduct an open-air search of the vehicle. During the search, K9 Hella alerted on the vehicle. Officer Pritchett then conducted a search of vehicle and located approximately 5.295 ounces of marijuana in the front passenger seat area along with other drug-related objects. The driver, Stefan Anthony Gabriel Blain, age 22 of Blue Ridge, was then arrested.
