Friday’s Lit Meet gave the perfect setting for some of Gilmer High School’s Chorus members to shine their brightest through its Boys Quartet and Soloist state competition qualifying members.

The GHS chorus gave their all and simply did what they do best, they conquered the competition with their outstanding voices.

Placing first were Boys Soloist Cameron Conn and Boys Quartet members Trevor Watkins, Cameron Conn, Chase Sumner, Sam Hood. Also placing high were Girl’s Trio members Madison Messer, Sydney Teague, and Ashlyn Jenkins in second place and Girls Soloist Zoie Carter Penson in a fourth place win.

Boys Trio member, Trevor Watkins, responded to the win by stating “My reaction to the win was definitely one of a surprise! We all hugged and laughed over our victory.” When asked how they had accomplished their win he replied, ”Winning had never really crossed our mind. If I were being honest, the biggest key to our success was teamwork.”

When speaking about his group Trevor simply said,” We are all such good friends, and I genuinely love the rest of the quartet with all my heart.”.

Girls Soloist Zoie Carter Penson, also received a fourth place win

The chorus members rejoiced with their wins. However, the best is yet to come. The first place winners will be competing in the GHSA Literary Meet on Saturday, March 18.
