Edward H. Burnside, 88, of Ellijay, died Saturday April 8, 2017, at Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw, GA.

He was born December 11, 1928 in Dayton Beach FL to the late John E, and Jettie Jane Pogue Burnside. He graduated from Forest Lake Academy in Apoka, FL. He then graduated with a Chemistry and Biology degree from Madison College in Madison, TN. He worked in doctors’ offices and managed hospital laboratories, including Watkins Memorial Hospital, Ellijay, Georgia in the 1970’s. He was a member of the Ellijay Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Wilberta “Birdie” Burnside; son and daughter in-law, E. Hale Burnside II, M.D. and Ying Li of McDonough,  GA and daughter, Janis White, Ph. D of New Market, VA; six grandchildren, Erinn B. (Paul) Myers, Jennifer Burnside, Robert “Bobby” Burnside, Keith E. White,  Hannah W. (Matt) Hutman and Mary Bailey White; and three great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 29 at 3:00pm at the Ellijay Seventh-day Adventist Church with family visitation one hour before service. Officiating will be Leon Weeks of Southern Adventist University, Collegedale, TN.
