Donald R. Watkins, age 71, of Cherry Log died Sunday April 9, 2017.

Mr. Watkins was born August 15, 1945, in Gilmer County the son of the late Ernest and Thelma Carringer Watkins. He was a graduate of Gilmer High School, retired from Lockheed Aircraft and was a member and Deacon of the Mt. Pleasant (Buckhorn) Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sharon Watkins, granddaughter, Charity Anderson.

Survivors include, His wife; Sarah Watkins, son and daughter-in-law, Rev Scott and Angie Watkins, Cherry Log, daughter and son-in-law; April and Corey Sexton, Dallas, grandchildren, Natalie Watkins, Jacob Anderson, Justice and Sasha Sexton, brother and sister-in-law: David and Karen Watkins, Ellijay, sisters and brothers-in-law: Cathy and Jim Hill, Carolyn and Ray Postell, all of Ellijay.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12^th at 2:00pm from the Mt. Pleasant (Buckhorn) Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Gilbert and Rev. Billy Cantrell officiating. Interment will be in the Underwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 11^th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
