Mr. Charles “Charlie” Alan Absher, age 49 of East Ellijay, GA passed Sunday evening, May 28th, 2017 at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA.

Mr. Absher was born on May 9th, 1968 in Lake City, FL to his late parents John Ralph and Betty Joan Sherrod Absher.  He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, a graduate of Dunnellon High School, Class of 1988, and worked as a shipping supervisor for Pilgrim’s Pride where he had been employed for over 20 years.  Charlie is preceded in death by his sister, Baby Girl Absher and brother, Michael Absher.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Smith Absher of the home in East Ellijay, GA; son, Christopher Alan Absher of GA, brother, John Paul Absher of Montgomery, AL; step children, Kaitlyn Danielle Burton, Brianna Alexandria Burton, Cameron Dalton Burton, and Destiny Noelle Burton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Carol Smith of Ellijay, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Carrie and Jason Clay of Branchland, WV, Autumn and C.J. McKinley of Franklin, NC, and Byron Smith of Ellijay, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Friday, June 2nd, 2017 from the Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Ellington, Rev. Tommy Sanford, and Bro. David Roberson officiating.  Music and vocals will be by the Flat Creek Baptist Church Choir.  Graveside interment will immediately follow in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Hall, Justin Webb, Tommy Webster, Jeremy White, Travis Carnell, and Mark Simmons serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Byron Smith, Cameron Burton and Eddie Gilmore.

Family will receive friends from 4pm until 9pm on Thursday, June 1st, 2017 at the Flat Creek Baptist Church.
