Mrs. Marvis Omelene Mathis Edmondson, age 83 of Ellijay died Tuesday May 30, 2017 at her home surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Willard Edmondson. Survivors include: son Danny Edmondson, Ellijay, daughter; Debbie Edmondson Brandenberg and husband Kenny, Ellijay, granddaughter; Chrystal Trent and husband Russell, Blue Ridge, and great granddaughter; Krislyn Annette, Blue Ridge.

Mavis was born October 26, 1933, to the late Ensley Homer Mathis and Velva Lowman Mathis. She was one of seven children, including the late Ranell Mathis, and Mabel Mathis. Surviving are brothers; Roy and wife Sara Mathis, Mableton, Reggie Mathis, Rossville, Ronnie and wife Tina Mathis, Clarksville and Ruel and wife Becky Mathis , Mableton. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends also survive.

Mavis was a homemaker, and retired from Robertshaw Controls after 22years of service and a 61 year member of New Liberty Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00am in the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Cantrell, Rev. Bill Nealey and Rev. Steven Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the New Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers make donations to New Liberty Church Cemetery Fund at 221 Pisgah Rd. Ellijay, GA 30536. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 4 until 9pm at the funeral home.
